Building and Construction
What we do
We provide advice to participants right across the building and construction sector, including principals, head-contractors, and sub-contractors on a broad range of building and construction issues.
How we can help
Our focus is on assisting our clients to work through the issues and disputes in an effective and efficient manner. Our advice centres around our client’s ultimate objectives, and we provide pragmatic and practical advice on achieving those goals.
Disputes within the construction and building sector cover a wide range including disputes in relation to payment claims and payment schedules, building defects and non-compliance with the Building Code, extensions of time and disruption claims, liquidated damages, disputed variations, and many others.
We are experienced in all forms of dispute resolution processes in this sector and are ready to provide advice in order to meet the often short deadlines which are a particular feature of construction disputes.
We are familiar and experienced with all of the usual construction contract forms used throughout New Zealand, the payment claim, payment schedule, and adjudication processes set out in the Construction Contracts Act 2002, expert determinations, arbitration, engineer’s reviews and binding decisions, and court proceedings.
